Paul Carruthers [he/him] Paul Carruthers is Nurse Consultant at Gender Plus. Paul Carruthers has worked as a clinical nurse specialist in NHS paediatric services for approximately 18 years. From 2015 to 2023 he has been a key member of the NHS’ GIDS Endocrine team- leading the nursing team, co-working with mental health colleagues as part of multidisciplinary working, conducting assessments, liaising with primary care provides, as well as overseeing prescribing of gender hormone treatments. Paul Carruthers had been the paediatric endocrinology representative on the NHS England committee for the development of the National Gender Identity Development Service. His clinical work involving gender diverse young people has been recognised in an NHS award for outstanding care along with an award recognising the innovation his leadership brought to the service whilst designing the endocrine nurse led pathway. Paul Carruthers brings has a wealth of clinical experience, service innovation, leadership and management skills. Paul leads the associated endocrine pathway at Gender Plus with a focus on ensuring an integrated holistic multidisciplinary pathway of care for young people. Paul Carruthers is a member (and former council member) of the British Association of Gender Identity Specialists (BAGIS) as well as a member of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH).
