| Biography |
Claire is an Advanced Nurse Practitioner and Non-Medical Prescriber, with over 45 years of experience nursing in the UK, she has spent the last 40 years in primary care in different roles including mentorship. She completed her nurse training at University College Hospital in London in 1984, with specialist training in Orthopaedics at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Hospital in Oxford 1979 where she was one of 3 nurses in the UK to receive honours. She is respiratory nurse specialist in asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and has a specialist interest in dermatology.
Her current role in North Baddesley Surgery Southampton involves ‘on the day urgent care presentations’ over 3 sessions, she has a dermatology/Dermoscopy clinic and an asthma clinic which are autonomously managed. She taught for 2 yrs. the RCGP /CPS pharmacy clinical skills course.
She joined the BDNG primary care subgroup for education 4 yrs. ago in an honorary role promoting education, developed resources for primary care. She has presented at conferences on dermatology within primary care and on webinars more recently for the BDNG, She has had several articles and case studies published.
She has three children, and four wonderful grandchildren she is referred to as ‘Binbar’ She enjoys classical music, travel, skiing and playing racket ball.
